• “Effective Giving“: The organization reduced operating costs and increased transparency by using HP technology to account for donations and manage projects.

Corporate Social Responsibility: HP and its Contribution to Philanthropy

Philanthropy is one way large corporations can give back to society. HP is committed to its social responsibility, and the use of technology in charitable projects is one of the ways the company embodies its values.

HP invests its resources in supporting charities by providing them with access to reliable, cutting-edge laptops. Such investments have long-term benefits to society and pay back many times over in the form of better education, health care, and assistance to those in need.

Unless you are dedicated to the packaging industry, it is very possible that you do not know that there are three dimensions that make up the packaging of a product. This is composed of three levels that affect the way goods are packed and shipped. These are primary packaging, secondary packaging and tertiary packaging. Each type has a different function and they play their role in the packaging and shipping process.

Primary packaging

The primary packaging (also called retail or consumer packaging) is the one that is in direct contact with the product and the one that protects it the most from external agents.

The primary packaging varies according to the industry of the product in question. For example, in the pharmaceutical industry, the primary one is blisters containing a certain drug. In the beverage industry, it would be the bottle or can in which the beverage is stored. In the food, the plastic bag and the cardboard box that preserves your favorite cereals. In addition, the label of the bottles or cans is also part of the packaging.

Secondary packaging

This type of packaging is used to facilitate the transport or handling of smaller products in warehouses to group them into a single package. Provides extra protection to maintain and protect the integrity of the primary packaging. Normally, it is formed by different parts and components that guarantee the protection of the product: the box, the filling, separators, bubble wrap, paper…

The secondary packaging is also the box or envelope that we receive when we receive a shipment purchased online in an ecommerce and serves so that the product arrives in perfect condition at our home.

Tertiary packaging

Tertiary packaging, or transit, is the one used to group large quantities of goods to transport them from point A to point B. For example, from the warehouse to the point of sale. At this stage of logistics, the product is not treated as a unit as in the case of e-commerce shipments, but rather handled as distribution units.

The tertiary packaging facilitates such handling and the transport of large-volume goods and large and/or heavy loads in a safe manner. In addition to helping to prevent damage due to its high resistance, it facilitates the handling, storage and transportation of goods. An example of tertiary packaging is a sheathed pallet that allows the unitary transport of several cardboard boxes (secondary packaging) to make the shipment efficiently.

At Capsa, we have boxes for international shipments for companies from all types of industrial sectors, such as: beverage, food, automotive, industrial products, health and beauty, agri-food, pharmaceutical, and for all types of products, both light and heavy. Our offer of shipping boxes have been developed to meet a single objective: to grant the maximum protection to the contents. For this reason, our selection of international shipping boxes products is suitable for grouping products and to boost the performance of your logistics chain.

On our website, you will find container boxes with flaps and easy to assemble and the box palé with lids immobilize and protect the contents, optimize space, are easy to handle, stackable and stable, becoming the perfect packaging to accompany your product in long-distance imports or exports. With our boxes, your products will arrive at their final destination in perfect condition.

Why is every packaging important?

When creating a packaging strategy, it is important to keep in mind that the three levels of packaging will affect the preservation, the survival of the product and the footprint that the packaging leaves on your customers.

The primary packaging is the first thing that the consumer sees in certain contexts, such as on supermarket shelves. Therefore, it has an obvious function of branding and persuasion, since it can be decisive in the purchase decision in some cases. All the formal aspects of the packaging’s appearance matter: the logo, the size, the colors… Work on your brand’s packaging if you don’t want to leave your target indifferent; it’s a golden opportunity to bring personality to your product and make it stand out.

The role of secondary packaging is to protect the product during shipping and transportation of this until it reaches its destination. It is as necessary as the primary one for various reasons. On the one hand, choose a secondary packaging that is not resistant to unforeseen transport events, as it can be damaged during shipping (bumps), during storage or even while the customer is taking it home (rain). If the box was not of quality, this may cause the customer to receive his package in poor condition with a damaged product. As a manufacturer or brand, you have the responsibility to ensure that the product is received in perfect condition if you do not want the customer to make a claim for their purchase.

Benefits of choosing your packaging well

Choosing boxes that are easy to assemble and prepare will exponentially speed up your shipments, resulting in a much more efficient daily logistics. For example, at Capsa ® we offer a variety of boxes that optimize your logistics process, such as: quick assembly boxes and easy folding; as self-assembling boxes, which respond to the demands of ecommerce. In addition, they are complemented with a capsa 2in1 ® multifunction closure with special flaps for transporting and specific ones for storing. Likewise, there is the variant with 1 or double band of self-adhesive closure. The latter is perfect to allow a comfortable and safe return for the customer, without having to use a different packaging, so you will reduce excess, contribute to the environment and have a more reliable and comfortable reverse logistics in the eyes of your consumer.

In short, it is essential to find a balance of protection and visual attractions between the levels of packaging so that your products look great and are properly protected.

In 2022, charitable giving increased by 4% over the previous year. Individual donors contributed $484.85 billion, accounting for 67% of the total. Though generosity is always admirable, current donation increases are unable to keep pace with inflation. There is still time to give this year, and a significant portion of all charitable donations are typically made in December.

This year, there is no shortage of noble causes in need of support, especially given the devastating impact of high inflation on the finances of many individuals and organizations. Nobody wants their money to go to waste, so it’s natural to wonder which charities will benefit the most from your contributions.

Below you can learn more about how to choose the best charity for your holiday donation, as well as how to make the most of it on a limited budget. You can also take a closer look at the criteria we used to select the best charities in 2023.

How to Select a Charity

Find a Cause First: It’s not about the charity itself, but about the work it does. Make a list of the causes that are most important to you before researching specific organizations involved in that field. This will help you avoid losing sight of the forest for the trees by focusing on the beneficiary rather than the conduit.

Request Recommendations: People trust recommendations from friends and family above all else, so solicit charitable suggestions from your social network. You might even want to consult subject-matter experts. Your veterinarian, for example, could recommend a good animal-related charity, and an environmental scientist at your local university could recommend a climate-related organization. All of their experiences and perspectives will undoubtedly assist you in making a better decision.

Do Your Research: It’s always a good idea to do your homework before spending money with a new company, professional, or nonprofit. Examine the website of your chosen charity, as well as how it is being covered in the press and its financials. Examine how much of the organization’s funds are used for its stated cause versus marketing and administrator salaries.

Spread the Love: You are not required to choose just one charity. Donations are similar to crowdfunding in that a large number of people giving small amounts results in a relatively large sum at the end of the day. Don’t try to solve a single problem on your own; instead, consider donating small amounts to a number of charities to help address the various issues that you care about.

5 Donation Success Strategies

You don’t have to do much to make a difference for a good cause. However, keeping the following tips in mind will assist you and your chosen charity in making the most of your good deed.

1. Plan A Budget: It is possible to be overly generous. Donating more than you can afford will only harm your finances and make future contributions more difficult. That means that going overboard now could reduce your overall giving.

· Consider your holiday gift-giving budget as well as your other financial obligations to determine how much you can live without. It’s fine if you can’t contribute much. When it comes to charity, every little bit counts, and something is always better than nothing.

2. Determine Itemized Deductions: If you aren’t going to itemize your deductions, justifying a donation with the potential tax benefits makes little sense. Make a decision now, and remove taxes from your considerations if you intend to take the standard deduction. For more information on making these types of decisions, see our Tax Tips.

3. Consider Processing Fees: Using a credit card to make a donation is a great way to earn rewards while giving back. For example, you could earn $20 by making a $1,000 donation with a card that offers 2% back in cash, points, or miles.

· However, many organizations charge a processing fee for credit card donations. If it isn’t tax-deductible, it can erode, or even eliminate, your earnings, so make sure to check.

4. Earmark Funds for a Specific Purpose: The more you donate, the more control you’ll have over how the funds are used. If you prefer that your donation be used to improve the conditions of animal shelter cages rather than administrators’ salaries or marketing, inquire with your preferred organization about the possibility of designating a donation for something specific. If they say it’s not possible, take your donation elsewhere (or at least express your willingness to do so).

5. Remember about products and services: you don’t have to sacrifice money to make a difference. You can also donate clothes, food, or your time. Many people wonder whether it is better to donate time or money, and we have a convenient call tracking review to help you decide based on your specific situation.

Preventive anti-poverty programs designed for people living below the “poverty line,” i.e., those who do not have the minimum vital conditions of existence. Such charity programs may include educational, job creation and employment assistance, housing, medical, sanitary, epidemiological, cultural and educational projects, food aid and free meals, cash allowances, temporary shelters, psychological and legal assistance, etc.

Assistance to victims of social conflicts, disasters and natural calamities. It is assumed that as a result of large-scale, local or domestic events, individuals or groups of people find themselves deprived of vital conditions of existence. As a rule, victims of such events experience the full range of possible problems.

Rehabilitation of socially disadvantaged groups – the disabled, the sick, refugees, children, participants in military events, people who worked in dangerous conditions or were persecuted, etc.
By virtue of their characteristics, they objectively find themselves in a more difficult situation than the generally accepted view of people. In this case, charitable activity is aimed at raising their capabilities to the standard of living of the main part of the population.

The world is familiar with record charitable actions. For example, in 2010 in America billionaires signed the obligation to give not less than a half of their fortune to charity. Among these people were Microsoft founder Bill Gates and the founders of Facebook, the world’s largest social network, Mark Zuckerberg and Dustin Moskovitz.

]]>
In order for a nonprofit corporation to qualify as a state-recognized and tax-exempt corporation, it must meet the conditions set forth in the internal tax code. In the United States, the IRS determines the validity and tax status of an NPO.

Basic technology considerations for non-profit organizations
These qualifications include the following:

The organization must be established for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes.
The organization cannot be established for the benefit of any individual or private interest.
The organization must have a democratically elected governing body.
The organization must have a statute that defines its purpose and the procedure of its work.
Organizations wishing to obtain tax exemption must confirm these conditions and submit the appropriate documents to the IRS.

What are the common use cases for NPOs?
There are many use cases for nonprofit organizations. Here are some examples:

advocacy organizations campaigning for public safety, social welfare, political change or any other social cause;
charitable organizations that work to alleviate poverty or provide relief during natural disasters
educational institutions such as schools and universities;
environmental groups working to protect the planet and its resources; and
religious organizations dedicated to spreading their faith.
Some of the most well-known types of non-profit organizations include the American Red Cross, Amnesty International, and the United Way.

What are the benefits of NGOs to society?
Nonprofit organizations play an important role in society by working to improve the lives of others and the public good. They are often at the forefront of social change and provide much needed services to those who are most vulnerable.

NGOs provide opportunities for people to pool their resources and skills to achieve common goals. They also offer employees the opportunity to use their talents for good without being driven solely by profit.

NGOs play an important role in democracy by holding powerful institutions and individuals to account. They also help ensure that everyone has a voice in decisions that affect their lives.

In short, nonprofits are an important part of society because these types of organizations work to make the world a better place for everyone.

What challenges do NPOs face?
They often rely on the commitment of employees who believe in their cause because it is difficult for them to compete with private sector salaries in lower and middle management positions.

However, executive salaries are often high enough to compete with equivalent positions in the private sector.

Fundraising and sponsorship can also be a challenge for non-profit organizations, as they often rely on external sources such as donations.

Meticulous accounting, transparency and accountability are essential for continued operations, as mismanagement or misdirection of funds can lead to loss of funding from public and private sources and loss of status.

Charitable organization is a legal entity whose charitable activity in one or more areas is the main purpose of its activity. Charitable activity is voluntary personal and/or property assistance to achieve certain goals, which does not provide for the benefactor’s profit, as well as the payment of any remuneration or compensation to the benefactor.

The spheres of charitable activity are, in particular, education, health care, assistance to victims of disasters, armed conflicts and accidents, as well as to refugees and persons in difficult life circumstances, guardianship and trusteeship, legal assistance, social protection, social security, social services and poverty alleviation, promotion of the country’s defense capability and mobilization readiness, protection of the population in emergency situations, etc.

A charitable organization can be established as

charitable society – at least two founders; acts on the basis of the charter; may have, in addition to the founders, other members who have joined it
charitable institution – the founders transfer assets to achieve the goals of charitable activities; the founder or founders of the charitable institution do not participate in the management of the charitable institution; acts on the basis of the constituent act;
charitable foundation – acts on the basis of the charter, has participants and is managed by participants who are not obliged to transfer any assets to this organization to achieve the goals of charitable activities; can be created by one or more founders.

What is required to register a charitable organization?
In general, the procedure does not differ from the registration of public associations, as we wrote above.

The difference is that the registration is carried out by the registrar of the Center for the provision of administrative services. Also, the list of documents for registration is partially different.

The following documents shall be submitted for state registration of a charitable organization

application for state registration (if necessary, with an indication of inclusion in the Register of non-profit institutions and organizations)
a copy of the decision to establish a charitable organization;
constituent document (charter or constituent act).

The post Types of charitable foundations appeared first on Warm&Cente Regan.

]]>
Public charity
A public charity is an organization that primarily gives grants and receives support from the public. This means that public charities often receive funding from several sources, such as individuals, private foundations, and government agencies. A public charity can also earn money for certain charitable services, such as cleaning public places or holding charitable events. Public charities can include institutions such as hospitals, churches, and organizations that provide financial donations or other services to their community.

Private foundation
A private foundation is a charitable organization run by an individual, family or corporation. Private foundations typically receive financial support from sources such as the family of the foundation’s owners, the corporation that manages the foundation, or other private sources that make donations to support the foundation’s activities. As a private foundation usually receives funding, it is obliged to pay out a certain percentage of its income in the form of grants and charitable activities. There are three types of private foundations: independent, family and corporate.

Public foundation
A community foundation is a charitable foundation that focuses on providing grants for programs in a particular community. This may include funding after-school programs, educational programs at community centers, and activities that promote concepts that benefit society as a whole, such as health care or environmental sustainability. Community foundations may also offer support through grants such as scholarships, charitable circles, or programs that allocate funds to families or organizations in the community that need financial support.

Corporate foundation
A corporate foundation or company-sponsored foundation is a charitable organization founded and funded by a corporation. Because they receive funding from the corporation that runs them, corporate foundations typically have a wide range of philanthropic opportunities and often create initiatives that help them distribute funds to communities or programs in need. Corporate foundations also often donate to causes related to their industry to support employees in that field. Another way in which corporate foundations engage in philanthropy is through participation in corporate giving programs that provide grants and donations to other charitable organizations.

Independent foundation
An independent foundation is a type of private foundation that usually receives funding from a single source. This source may be an individual or group that donates charitable funds to the foundation to finance its charitable initiatives. Because independent foundations have stable funding from a single source, they typically do not engage in fundraising or other forms of seeking public support. Many independent foundations begin as family foundations or corporate foundations and transition to operating as an independent foundation after several years of operation.

Grantmaking foundation
A grantmaking foundation is a charitable organization that functions as a public foundation and is engaged in organizing and distributing grants. Grant-making foundations can sometimes also act as public charities, as they can provide support to NGOs and communities and receive their funding from fundraising and public events. The main purpose of a grant-making foundation is to create grants that they can give to members or groups in the community that need financial support.

Supporting organization
A supporting organization is a type of community foundation that provides support to another charitable organization or foundation. When a supporting organization joins another organization by partnering with it or offering support to it, the supporting organization acquires the status of a public charity regardless of which organization it contributes to. This means that the auxiliary can operate in many public sectors and serve a wide range of foundations and communities, as long as their support complies with legal regulations.

Arts foundation
An arts foundation is a charitable organization that supports the arts. It can be actors, musicians, painters and anyone who makes a living from the arts or performs. While many arts foundations are privately funded by donors, there are also public arts foundations that raise funds and act as public foundations. Arts foundations support artists by providing grants and scholarships that can fund art projects and performances.

The post What do animal protection organizations do appeared first on Warm&Cente Regan.

]]>
In addition to supporting the improvement of welfare, animal charities and organisations encourage the public to critically assess the impact of their lifestyles on animals.

Nowadays, the most common interaction between people and non-pet animals is the exploitation of animals in various ways. People eat them, drink their milk, wear their fur or skin, or use cosmetics that have been tested on them. For the animals that fall victim to these multi-billion dollar industries, life means endless pain, restriction of freedom and suffering.

Animal welfare organisations act on behalf of animals who cannot defend themselves and their main goal is to alleviate or end the suffering they endure at the hands of humans. Whether it is the protection of animals hunted for trade or animals born and raised on industrial farms, non-profit organizations care about improving their welfare and help to pass progressive legislation.

WHAT ARE ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELP ANIMALS?

The work of such organizations is aimed at protecting animals. This means that they work to fulfill a specific mission, not for profit, as corporations do. All money raised by such organizations usually comes in the form of donations and grants, and it must be directed to the mission, not to benefit shareholders or investors.

Animal welfare organizations can deal with different issues. While some are focused on specific activities, such as shelters caring for abandoned or lost animals, others function more broadly and campaign on a range of domestic and international issues. Below are examples of the issues that such organisations try to address:

  • Wildlife trade;
  • Farm animal welfare;
  • Protection of animal habitats;
  • Dissemination of information about plant-based nutrition;
  • Protection of marine mammals;
  • Exploitation of animals in entertainment (e.g. zoos, dolphinariums, circuses).

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF ANIMAL PROTECTION ORGANIZATIONS?

Animal protection organizations form the best and often the only way to protect animals. Motivated by their missions rather than financial gain, they advocate for stronger animal protection at the legislative and political level. They also raise public awareness of the harm that animals suffer at the hands of humans. They also often create safe habitats that allow animals to live as they would in the wild.

Currently, the relationship between humans and animals is based on dominance. Animals are considered property both legally and ideologically. People use them and often subject them to violence for their own purposes.
Laboratories still perform operations on live primates and dogs. On industrial farms, animals are kept in huge sheds without windows, often in pitch darkness, separated from their families and living in such cramped and dirty conditions for the rest of their lives. The animals often have to be pumped full of antibiotics in order to survive.

Much of modern society in North America and Europe actively exploits animals. They are used for entertainment, cosmetics and perfume testing, dairy production or slaughter. Industrial agriculture, research laboratories, clothing and entertainment – all these types of animal husbandry bring billions of dollars in revenue annually. To the detriment of the animals, the financial incentive for their continued exploitation is truly massive.

Despite some local and national laws, the lives, preferences and experiences of animals are considered less important than the financial benefits they bring. And this is at best. At worst, it doesn’t matter at all. Without animal protection initiatives, animals would remain at the absolute mercy of businesses motivated solely by money.

Thanks to animal protection organizations, animals have a chance for a better life.
Such organizations inform and encourage the public to rethink the impact of their lifestyle on animals.

HOW DO ANIMAL PROTECTION ORGANIZATIONS HELP ANIMALS?

Animal rights activists use various tactics in their work, including:

  • Mass activism;
  • Information and public events on the topic of veganism;
  • Undercover investigations of places such as laboratories and farms;
  • Lawsuits against animal rights violators;
  • Development and promotion of laws that protect animal rights.

Public association is a voluntary association of individuals and/or legal entities for the exercise and protection of rights and freedoms, satisfaction of public, in particular economic, social, cultural, environmental and other interests. For example, human rights, educational, environmental associations, etc.

Public associations can be created in order to achieve the goals and solely in the interests of their members. That is, their activities are local and can solve small-scale problems.

In contrast, there are public associations that have goals useful for the whole society: protection of human rights, education, provision of social services, housing, food, basic necessities.

There are two types of public associations:

public organization;
public union.

The number of founders in both the union and the organization cannot be less than two persons.

The main difference between a public union and a public organization is that only individuals can be founders of a public organization, while a public union can be founded by legal entities.

What do you need to register a public association?
Firstly, it is necessary to have identity documents (passport, identification code, document on the address of residence registration).

Secondly, decide who will be the founder (at least two persons).

Thirdly, choose the name and type of the future public association, address, head and governing bodies, purpose and activities.

The next stage – preparation of documents, can be done independently or with the help of lawyers. The following documents shall be submitted for state registration of a public association

application (if necessary, with an indication of inclusion in the Register of non-profit institutions and organizations)
a copy of the decision of the founders to establish a public association;
the charter;
information about the governing bodies;
information about the person who has the right to represent the public association for registration actions;
register of persons who participated in the meeting.

Next – signing and registration, as a rule, this happens at the notary and registrar of the Department of Justice at the place of residence of the founders.

The final stage is entering the register of non-profit organizations, ordering a seal, opening a bank account, obtaining an electronic digital signature for accounting.

At each stage, a lawyer can provide assistance (preparation of documents, filling out forms, consultations, support in government agencies, etc.)

Charity law in the UK varies between England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, but the basic principles are the same. Most charities must be registered with the appropriate regulatory authority in their jurisdiction, but significant exceptions apply, so that many organizations are bona fide charities but do not appear on the public register. The registers are maintained by the Charity Commission for England and Wales and, for Scotland, by the Scottish Charity Oversight Authority. The Charity Commission of Northern Ireland maintains a register of charities that have been formally registered (see below). Filing organizations must meet specific legal requirements, summarized below, have filing requirements with their regulatory authority, and are subject to audits or other forms of review. The oldest charity in the UK is The King’s School, Canterbury, founded in 597.

The Lobbying Transparency, Nonpartisan Campaigns and Trade Union Administration Act of 2014 subjects charities to regulation by the Electoral Commission in the run-up to the general election.

The Charities Act of 2011 lists charities as follows.

Prevention or alleviation of poverty
promotion of education
promotion of religion
improving health or saving lives
advan cement of citizenship or development of society
development of art, culture, heritage or science
development of amateur sports
promotion of human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation, or promotion of religious or racial harmony or equality and diversity
promotion of protection or improvement of the environment
helping those in need because of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other inconvenience
improving the protection of animals
improving the effectiveness of the Crown Armed Forces or police, fire and rescue services or ambulance services
other purposes currently recognized as charitable purposes and any new charitable purposes that are similar to other charitable purposes.

The charity must also provide for the public good.

Prior to the Charities Act of 2006, which introduced the definition in the 2011 Act, the definition of charity emerged from the list of charitable purposes in the Charities Act of 1601 (also known as the Statute of Elizabeth), which has been interpreted and expanded to much of the case law. In Commissioners for Special Purposes of Income Taxation v. Pemsel (1891), Lord McNaughten identified four categories of charity that could be distinguished from the Charity Act and which were the generally accepted definition of charity prior to the Charity Act of 2006.

poverty,
promotion of education,
promotion of religion, and
other purposes deemed beneficial to society.

Charities in England and Wales such as Age UK, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB ) and the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals (RSPCA ) must comply with the requirements of 2011. Act governing such matters as reports and accounts of charitable activities and fundraising.

Structures
As of 2011, there are several types of legal structures for charities in England and Wales.

A charitable registered organization
An unincorporated association is the most common form of organization within the voluntary sector in England and Wales. It is essentially a contractual agreement between people who have agreed to come together to form an organization for a specific purpose. An unincorporated association usually has as its governing document a constitution or set of rules that will address such matters as the appointment of officers and rules governing membership. Although the organization is not a separate legal entity, it cannot take legal action, borrow money, or enter into contracts in its own name. Its officers may be personally liable if the charity is sued or has debts.
